Kudos to Asghar Ali Engineer for blasting the myth that Mulims resort to “violence” to solve their problems! And the Quran directs them to finish off the kafirs!In the two verses which inform “the right to fight in the cause of Allah”(Quran 22:39 and 2:190),the word,”Jihad”is NOT used.Jihad literally means “striving to the utmost”!”Jiahde Kabira”(the Great Jihad)is prescribed for “kafirs”(disbelievers)with Quran only!(Quran 25 :52).In other words,debate with disbelievers on the basis of Quran only is prescribed in the Quran.The wicked passing off as leaders of the spirited yoth only have misled the youth, by making them believe that terrorist acts are “jihad” and the martyrs will go straight to heaven!On the contrary,Islam neither endorses their warped thinking nor approves of their acts.The Quran warns such misleading leaders that on the day of judgement, not only they will bear their own burden,undiminished, but also somewhat of the burden of those gullible guys, whom they misled!

A good, well written piece. Indeed, the jihad one does against ones own nafs is the Jihade Akbar, or the Great Jihad.

The Jihad bi’l saif, which is armed combat in defense of the faith, is Jihade Asghar, or the little Jihad.

Once, when addressing a contingent coming back from such a war, the Holy Prophet (SAWA) said, “You have come back from the Jihade Asghar to the Jihade Akbar”
