Award or no award, the mere nomination is proof enough of the quality of this blog. Faisal has beautifully summed up its very essence.

I really enjoy the comments posted on the articles published. While we may agree and disagree on different issues, but we give the other a reason to ponder. And that for me is more than an 'award,' its a 'reward.'

Nomination itself indicates the popularity IM has gained in a short time.

I Totally agree with Faisal's view about the diversity and thoroughness each and every article provides here, Infact I have learned a lot after going through the articles from various learned and thinking individuals and this blog has certainly helped in bridging the gap between various communities.

This Blog certainly desreves the "Best Blog" Award and to me whether there are any nominations or not ,this blog is already a winner as it has already won the hearts of many by its thought provoking articles and providing a healthy and conducive atmosphere to any debate.

It has been a wonderful learning experience for me by reading the posts on this blog, the comments from different folks, and the lively discussions. All the best to everyone here and hoping that you (the writers) keep up the good work, we continue this dialog and make India and its democracy stronger. It gets my vote. :)

[...] A collaborative blog helped I co-found, Indian Muslims, has been nominated to the prestigious Brass Crescent Awards in the Best Group Blog category. Brass Crescent Awards are given out to the best of Muslim Blogosphere annually and are now in their fourth year of running. Here is what I wrote at Indian Muslims on this occasion: Right from its inception we have projected Indian Muslims as a collaborative platform to share ideas and engage in constructive discussions. This nomination in the Best Group Blog category is a vindication of our policy. We were also the finalists at the 2006 Indibloggies for Best Group/Community Blog. Over the past 6 months, Indian Muslims has grown by leaps and bounds with record number of visitors per day and a substantial increase in the number of comments on posts. Also, new authors have joined Indian Muslims bringing fresh perspective with them. All this has contributed to the ‘group feel’ of this blog and we will continue building upon this in future.
Congratulations on the nomination and looking forward to the blog getting the award.

I was one of the early people to stumble upon the site (and the fact that I knew Mohib from interactions at other fora played a part in that). Like Mirza Faisal, I have enjoyed the quality and diversity of posts, as well as the comments.

Good job, folks and continue working towards sustaining the high quality of the blog. The awards will naturally follow.

It is another feel-good thing that we find while linked to this blog. I literally stumbled upon this blog in early 2007. I was surprised that even after one year it was almost unknown. Perhaps it deserved a nomination for "MOST DESERVING OF WIDER RECOGNITION" in 2006! :)

Thankfully it has grown over the year and the readership has grown by leaps and bounds. The part I like most is the variety of posts and comments that we get. Without doubt reading through them (particularly the comments) has been a really enriching experience. We may agree or disagree but we cannot ignore it.

I cannot find any other place where I can read about Religion, Politics, Movies, Music, Art, Architecture, Poetry, Sports, Cuisine with the Indian Muslim perspective.

I am also proud of the diversity that we have among the authors. We may agree with some or we may disagree but we cannot ignore them! And that is the best part as the different colours provide the enrichment. Whether it be Yoginder Sikand's unique take on Indian Islam and Madarsa education, Asghar Ali Engineer's posts on communalism and empowerment, Mirza Akhtar Beg's unique take on global issues, Kashif's thoughts on anything Indian Muslim, Adnan's journalistic feel in his posts, Sharique's straight-from-the-heart writeups, Inam's insightful personal experiences, Shama's liberal approach to the matter, Rupa bringing in the grassroot worker's feel, Zartab's 'cut the crap, this is what it is' approach and not at all least Mohib's wide foray into all matters :)

But there is another aspect to this enrichment process and that is reading through the comments. And I think they often go unsung for their contribution. I hope we should have an award on this blog for the Best Commenters :) I really look forward to reading the responses from Girish, Asad, Triple, Amit, Sahil Khan, Manoj George, Chirag, Shahran, Mahesh, history lover, Mayuresh, and many many others.

Is this blog unique in the blogosphere? Of course it is! Where else can I find a celebration of India's twenty20 win, feel sad as well as speak out about the Gujarat pogrom, vicariously eat the mughlai at Kareem, think about what could be done to empower the poorest among the Indian Muslims, hate as well as defend Tasleema Nasreen, criticize the Left and the Right of the Indian Political system, dwelve deeper into issues ranging from nuclear deal, suicide bombings, communalism, history, Pakistan and many many other things.

And that is why it needs a much wider recognition.
