It is no secret that India’s intelligence agencies have failed India time and again. Riots, bomb blasts, Police encounters and all things that can destabilize India seem to increase every year. Intelligence agencies of India have not only failed to investigate properly crimes committed in the past, they have failed again and again to protect people of India from future attacks.
It was a sense of outrage that we read outlook story that RAW, the premier intelligence agency of India does not hire Muslims and Sikhs of India.
The magazine said India’s minority Muslims were not trusted by the security apparatus because of fears they could sympathise with the country’s mainly Muslim neighbour and long-time foe Pakistan.
It said none had been recruited by the country’s external spy agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), since 1969.â€?
But if you are Hindu then you may as well be a Bangladeshi citizen and no one will ever check your home address. Latest news of a RAW officer being a mole for Bangladeshis for 5 yearsis disturbing.
The alleged Bangladeshi spy, Dewanchand Malik, alias DC, was working in the PMO’s Cabinet Secretariat as deputy director of RAW between 1999 and May 2005. It is feared that Malik has leaked confidential security information. He is also believed to have stolen some sensitive documents.
Read latest news at DNAAs soon as the breach was revealed, a team immediately left for 24 Parganas in West Bengal to verify the residential address given by Malik. However, locals told the team that Malik was, in fact, a Bangladesh citizen.
An explanation is needed from RAW on its recruiting procedure. It needs to come clean on how many candidates it refused to accept just because they were not Hindus and how many Hindus it entrusted with our secrets who were never properly checked.
RAW needs to be researched and analysed.

WOW!!!!!!!!! i’m glad the situation has finally made the press. let me read more before i comment, but off the bat, a very very deplorable situation.
Raw needs to be reserached and analysed, wah! So true. The mindset that Muslims are fifth columnists, is quite widespread, especially in police and intelligence agencies.
This is why they say military intelligence is an oxymoron. deplorable. more bureaucratic babu nonsense.
It makes me wonder, how does RAW infiltrate Muslim organizations or keep tabs on them, which must be a huge part of their work given their big work is Pak and B’desh related!
It would be so much easier, no, to have Muslims for such roles than have to train non_muslims?

Muslims and Sikhs are not taken as part of the personal security apparatus of the the president of India and the prime minister of India.
Well it is easy to jump and cry faul. But the question is:
1. Well we have a muslim president- Dr. Abdul Kalam, now why do not he make it very clear that he will not stand this discrimination and that he wants muslim body guards?
2. Why do not our Sikh prime minister- Manmohan Singh says he wants sikhs among his body guards?
3. Former prime minster Indira Gandhi was advised against keeping Sikhs in her body guards. She refused to remove them. She was very clear on that. She does not want any discrimination. How smart was that?
4. How many of you if you were the officer incharge of security of the prime minster and president would put a sikh or a muslim among the body guards?
I belive such discriminations are not just. But then there are thoughts, and that needs respect.
I do not think such discrimination is at all just. This is like pronouncing a community guilty before trial. Till you give people a chance to show their worth, how will they ever justify whether they are trustworthy or not?
In fact having muslim majority regiments in the army might be a very good idea, not just as a symbol but also for ideological purposes, to refute Pakistan’s propoganda but also to inspire confidence and positive perception about indian muslim’s among the common people. similarly, there is no reason to exclude muslims or sikhs from the security agencies.
Let me remind you, that throughout history there have been just as many Hindu traitors as there have been Muslim patriots….

The demand for Muslim Majority regiment in Indian Army is a valid one. If other communities have their regiments then why not have Muslims as a regiment. We know from history that Muslims will make excellent soliders with their discipline and courage.
By denying Muslims this chance to serve, India is being denied service of 15% of its talent pool.

Both our PM and President are politically weaklings. If the President do not hesitate to take support from the party who is responsible for Gujarat genocide, you can not expect him to demand that he wants Muslim bodyguards.
Similar is the case with Manmohan Singh, he is unable to win a Lok Sabha election and continue to use the back door of becoming Rajya Sabha member from Assam to gain entry in the parliament.

Indira Gandhi killing is not due to having Sikh as her bodyguards but rather failure of the intelligence in proper debriefing two killers before deploying them to protect her.

I would gladly have all Sikh or Muslim bodyguards if I can do the proper background check, otherwise you can not even trust Hindus. Just being Hindu does not mean that he will be a patriot too. We know what damage is done to India and Indians by a party that claims to be a Hindu party.

You are right. The prime minister and president are political weaklings. PM can not rehabilitate the kashmiri hindus who have been uprooted from Kashmir and are rotting in refuge camps in Delhi nor the Muslims in the Gujarat camps affected by the riots.
The president of India does not have the guts (nor show the sense of duty) to send the terrorists- convicted by the courts of law working in his name- to the gallows.
I think the reason we get such weaklings is because on the day of voting, at the pooling booth our people vote according to our caste/ religious/ linguistic considerations rather than based on the common good of the society.
Well regarding being able to debrief about the motivations of an individual without due considerations of his faith and belief, I prefer to go with the professionals that are taking these decisions. I still feel they made a mistake in Indira Gandhi’s case. I am happy that they have corrected that mistake.

Well regarding your comment on the Hindu party, I did not understand the relevance of that comment to this issue.
