Did Tehelka reveal something really extra-ordinary? And were the reactions different? Absolutely no. The right-wingers were quick to dub the expose a sham because according to them Tarun Tejpal is under the influence of ISI. This conspiracy theory was designed to tarnish the image of the most successful Chief Minister in India at present. Narendra Modi has made Gujarat into an investor’s heaven because of the ease with which a plant or commercial establishment can be setup in the state. Reduced red-tapism attracted the big players and this lead to a ‘Vibrant Gujarat’, which recently got awarded for the best e-Governed Government in Asia.
The other-wingers (Leftist, Secularists, Congressmen/women, Muslims etc etc) got another opportunity to castigate Modi. This once again brought them to the same conclusion, why the perpetrators of inhuman violence against Muslims always remain at large?
Why people like Thackrey and Togadia continue to taunt/curse Muslims? Why people continue to blame Muslims for doing enough to curb extremist among them? Why are Muslims considered an hindrance to the progress of the nation?All these arguments have become trite.
I wish to highlight here the difference between Modi and Thackrey or Togadia. All the opinion expressed here are my own and they have formed after interacting with people directly involved with the Gujarat and other state Governments. Thackrey might be a Muslim hater but the difference between him and Modi is that he hate Muslims for just being Muslims, Modi hates Muslims for being an hindrance to the progress of Gujarat.Modi is a hard task master and because of his leadership qualities Gujarat continues to progress at a phenomenal rate. He is highly committed to the progress and doesn’t mind taking a tough stand against his own partymen, businessmen or RSS workers.
Muslims in Gujarat, as they are in other parts of the country, continue to trail as far as progress is concerned as personal level. Lack of education and poverty continue to plague the community and they are mostly non-contributors to the progress of the state. Well there are other communities as well who are dormant and a burden to the hard workers of the ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ but they at least share the same religion as Modi and his supporters. Muslims have to be either lifted up or ‘used’ for political gains. Leaders like Lalu and Mulayam Singh Yadav have too ‘used’ Muslims for political gains but not the way Modi ‘used’ them.He wanted the Chief Ministership back at any cost because he had already done the hard work of building a base for successful implementation of many policies. Anti-Incumbency could have over-thrown him and thus his dream of a ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ could have only prevented few bed sheets from getting strained. He wanted something out-of-the-box solution to guarantee his return. And he ‘used’ Muslims. He incited the passions by first orchestrating Godhra and then letting the goons hunt down Muslims. He projected Muslims as a common enemy who have to be eliminated for the betterment of the state. He brought the Hindus together by fanning the already existing anti-Muslim passions. Hindus saw in Modi their saviour who could dare to speak against the burden on the society.
Gujaratis are more concerned about making money rather than anything else, Muslims spoil the show by clamouring about reservations.What was the result of this drama? Modi won and thus Gujarat saw an unprecedented growth. Or did Modi work so hard to convince the people and justify the risk that he took by endorsing the pogrom? I don’t deny this but chances are rare.And so I conclude the differences between Modi and Thackrey. Modi’s vision of a great state has earned him laurels from all sections of the society. The butchered Muslims, who cares!, they were anyway a burden on the society. The result of this plan has been so virulent that Hindu professional today refuse to work for their Muslim Middle East clients, a surprise because Gujaratis don’t generally refuse business. I really don’t know if this animosity can ever be erased from the hearts but one thing is for clear, Modi is here to stay and his plan can also be implemented in other parts of the country.
No matter how much you deny, the truth of matter remains- majority hate Muslims, some for us following Islam and some for us being a burden. And the blogsphere is definitely not a representative of the majority.And the buzz word in this shinning India is progress not religion and anything for that progress. This is precisely the reason why champions of anti-Modi camp are labelled as anti-Indian.We have to decide, progress at any cost or hindered progress because the secular credentials of India have to be preserved. The wingers would have already decided their choice and thus I should stop ranting.

This is my worry my friend. This is far fetched conspiracy theory. Also I would love to see this blog focusing on successful Muslims and how they are overcoming obstacles. Such theories make me worried. If an educated blogger can come up with this what will an uneducated Muslim on the street be willing to believe?
Gugrat is vibrant and the most vibrant color is red, the red blood of thousands of innocents that were buchured at will, under the ruthless, inhuman and impotent control of Modi administration and even now the mass murderers vow to kill more and don’t regret the loss of human life, even women and children. See the video of Babu to believe how proud he feels. The educated Muslims feel ashamed of poor and uneducated majority, but the truth is that these poor and uneducated masses save your ****. The secularism of Ahsan Jafri got him to pieces, and if its not the uneducated Muslims of UP that are in significant numbers, BJP will be in center carrying out the agenda of Modi via countless Babu’s and you will feel great.
Disenchanted, I do understand what is going in your mind. We are all victims of prejudices. Prejudices which take us away from our inner self. We justify every wrong with a wrong. Let us be humans first and humans last and I guess Being Hindu, Muslim will then seem very small to be.

Salman – there’s nothing new that we have heard in the tapes. so why get so worked up? u r calling people ‘wingers’ – but u’ve mentioned muslims as just muslims. aren’t there ‘wings’ in muslims? for example the wing that supports osama, the wing that supports bukhari and shahbuddin, the wing that participates in bomb blasts, the wing that wants to make india an islamic state, the wing that follows zakir naik, the wing that votes as their mulla tells them to vote and those who play tapes from their prayer places telling pandits to leave their homeland or die and it goes on and on… but of course they are just ‘muslim’ and hence only victims of somebody else. they love everyone, but get only hatred in return. yes sir, u r right, the blogsphere is only doing taqqiya, but u don’t move from ur righteous standpoint.

If true, the loudspeakers who sent the Bandits from the valley has made the communalists task easier. Now you need not create government vacancies for them, whereas, the brazen aid given to them in India is deducted from Kashmir budget. There is no example is history where the followers of a religion or sects must have been so partial. You need to be acceptible to the truths, unfortunate and fortunately I have seen the facts, First Hand. You should be happy!!

Naqqad, have no idea what u mean. Vaguely something like pandits are a privileged lot and that some sect or religion is more partial than anyone else ever in history and that aid given to pandits should be deducted from Gujarat budget?
pandits have been a privileged lot right from the days of aurangzeb when they were being forced to convert, sought Guru Teghbahadur’s help which led to his martyrdom. interesting that you have experienced all this history and present first hand. to do that, you must not be a person, but an ideology.

I don’t think that Muslims are hindrance to progress. Is there any statistics to prove this? I am sure with we being the second largest population in this country must be contributors in the GDP and economic growth. Taxes by Muslims in IT/ITES, Goverment jobs, Muslim Businessmen, Exporters, People like Aziz Premji incidentally from Gujurat.
Salman, agree with you that Gujurat has got economic growth under Modi but this has been the case with all dictators worldwide and they ultimately led to the destruction of their so called growths as well. Hitler in Germany, Mussolini in Italy or to some extent Musharraf in Pakistan all are famed for bringing huge growth and ultimately destroyed their countries or are leading to it.
