I felt that a section of the Indian media acted a little immature by linking the terrorists to Pakistan even before the official word. Playing to the gallery gets you TRPs but doesn’t help the greater cause. Agreed the men came from Pakistan (as shared by the government later) but the country is itself fighting the same monster. It’s high time that we work together on countering this threat together rather than play the age old blame game. If Pakistan is serious we will get closer to the people who masterminded the Mumbai carnage. And for that it needs to do more than just mere assurances.
Replying to the Indian claims of the terrorists coming from Pakistan, a TV channel (News One) there has come up with its own weird conspiracy theory. I couldn’t watch the entire programme as it was too far fetched to digest and in a way mocked the sacrifices of some very brave men.
The video features Zaid Hamid. Hamid is an idependent Pakistani security expert and also the founder of BrassTacks – a Pakistani Think Tank devoted to the study of regional and global political events and their influence on Pakistan. He comes from a military background having signed up as a volunteer in the Afghan war. His jihadi roots speaks for his biased opinions and weird logic. On a lighter note he is a good entertainer with his kind of imagination.

What can I say other than we have to shed aside our differences if we are to fight a common enemy. The electronic media needs to be more restrained in their approach. Such telecasts only fuel the fire.
It saddens me to see India’s name amongst the 20 most dangerous places to visit by the UK’s Telegraph. Needless to mention the millions we will lose because of tourists shying away. And we share space with Pakistan on that list. I’m sure the Pakistanis too feel the same!

Sad to see that the such kind of conspiracy theories have sympathizers in India too – and not any ordinary Indian – But, an educated, prosperous and responsible Indian. Union Minister A R Antulay’s remarks which are on similar lines are what should make us more worried than accusations by political representatives in Pakistan. The fact that central government is shying away from punishing Antulay once again shows that Indian Political parties worry more about their vote banks rather than National pride, integrity and safety. Indian media too is not too honest to the country – they are worried only about TRP ratings and the government support.

With Antulay, it is a little different. He agrees that Karkare and colleagues were killed by Pakistani terrorists. He is questioning whether some traitors within set up these brave officers. This is something that needs to be probed in an unbiased manner.

Its good to have him here as every one has a right to say his word in democracy.
But its upto a collective wisdom of common people to judge him on his merit and evidence that he is purpouding.
And dont forget that “who is going to benefit” by these theories and whose “purpose” will get solved.

Personally speaking, I see that his conspiracy theories are directly benefitting the enemies who basic wish and intent is to create the divide among the our people.

Conspiracy theorists are always good for a laugh. Anyone mention the illuminati yet?
I think conspiracy theories are unavoidable.
However between debate of Zaid Hamid and Bharat Varma, Bharat varma should have highlighted the below facts:-
1. The Sikhs do not want to leave India. We currently have a Sikh as a primeminister.
2. The Dalits are being empowered at all levels in India. There are chief Ministers and ministers at many levels in India today who are Dalits.
3. The attack on Christians was not an attack by the Indian state. Sonia Gandhi is a Catholic and currently head of India’s current political dispensation.
I won’t speak about Muslims as there are many who can speak for themselves. Gujurat or Babri were again not acts by the Indian state.
Bharat Varma however did say correctly that India is looking at its weakness but the one key strength of all jihadis is shouting at top of their voice with rhetorics which in many cases has been seen to excite and anger the audience and sympathise with the said words. Bharat Varma resorted to ridiculing Zaid who was allready highly surcharged. Regarding evidence Geo TV of Pakistan has conducted a sting operation in Kasab’s village. It could have been pointed out. Also the Iraqi resolution did not have a UN backing. Why US remains criticised in Iraq is because it never had a UN backing.
Regarding Colonel Purohits involvement it is Indian agencies who have unearthed the same. And that is what we want Pakistan to introspect.
He should have been pointed that even in interest of Pakistan terrorist organisations need to be taken on a productive path rather than a path which is ready to gobble and finish them.
Many of their top army officers have become game in the pashtuni war.
In the Indian context Antulay’s statement and some news in Urdu Press is regrettable. But these are unavoidable.

Zaid hamid has done enromous damage to the image of Pakistan. Only yesterday i was watching his outburst on Israel army offensive into Gaza and he was saying, we should fire a few missiles into Israel to teach them a lesson but not a nuclear one because Pakistanis live there, please go ahead and do that Pak, India will get rid of you without doing any thing. His baseless arguments and no-brainers have takers in Pakistan because as a nation it needs some thing to boost morale, since Pak has failed economically, stands diplomatically isoltaed and faces risk of disintegration. In UK I have a lot of Pakistani friends and they all agree halaat kafi kharab hai waha. Dawn the leading newspaper itself has brought out editorials asking Pak govt to come out clean on Bombay attack since egged by India the world beleives that any way.
