I really think this is blown out of proportion. Nobody has a right to attack Shoaib for what he said.

Most people don't even understand what he meant. Just leave him alone. As was mentioned by alot of people already Shoaib does not speak English fluently. This is his 3rd language so everyone should stop being so quick to judge him.

In any way he did not mean to offend anyone, nor did he suggest that all muslims all over the world support pakistan. The "apology" and whatever else he said was just for the fans who do support them. To everyone else who was offended, try not to be so over-sensitive.

And to the rest of the world, stop over-analysing Shoaib's every comment. He is a young, new captain and he is trying his best! We should all respect him for that and overlook the small things that happen. He would never hurt anyone's feelings intentionally!

I think this is a classic example of a mountain being made out of a molehill! Shoaib Mallik does not speak very good english and thats just fine because its not his mother tongue! It was a final match, he is a young captain..its very possible for him to not be able to express his thoughts properly! I think this issue does not deserve an entire blog post nor does it deserve so many comments reacting to it! There are far more important issues that both Indians and Pakistanis should be worrying about!

Vishnu well what about Sachin, Saurav and Dravid who also do the same. Irfan has infact proved himself a class apart from other players and definitely is a role model for Indian Muslims as well. Also, why religion. A sensible thing to say can be that players are more worried about money rather than playing for nation. Surprisingly people who care most about religion in todays world are the ones who spread the most hate.

Irfan is more worried about his career and making money and appearing on ads rather than religion. money is more of a powerful attractant than religion.

hi

his brother may have been injured fighting, wonder how come he did not die, as 100s of other students and fighter died,

pls accept the fact they were just bluffing, and did not have the guts to die, for them death is ok as long as it of othere,

in india we had another terrorist like them Birindanwale in golden temple punjab, i am happy he was killed, but atleast he died fighting as well as all his supporters,

but in lala masjid they were claiming they will never surrender, they will die fighting, they will introduce islamic law in pakistn ect ect, how come then they were ready to make a deal with Mushraf?

remm mpst mullas dont have the guts to die, because they do not lead upfront, they are more of the inciting type, as long as they are safe, if in danger they will keep quite,

eg: Iraq when Sadam was there one never heard of a single mulla there, once he was thrown out not there seem to be so many religious leader, all fighting for power,

remmember the basic rule of development, any country which wants to develop it has to keep religion seperate from the state(politics)
europe developed when the seperated rekigion from sate, before that the pope use to interfere in all political matter

this applies to india too, we have to fight very hard to keep religion away from politic, many of our problems in india are because to religion

so if u want pak to develop keep this so called mullas away from politis, they should only take care of the soul not the country

They said that they will fight till the end but then hWell the Maulana's brother was fighting and he fought till he got injured in the battle with the Security forces after his mother got killed in the operation.

Check out the drama that unfolded on the Pakistan Media screens:
There is more behind the scenes than what we saw on our TV

Shahran, you could be correct that there were games being played by both sides, but the fact of the matter is that he used a burqa (worn by women) to escape and was caught. When he put on the burqa, that was his choice - no one forced him to wear it. Here's a recent news item along the same lines: http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2007%5C10%5C02%5Cstory_2-10-2007_pg1_6

My point is that when incidents like these happen (use of burqa by men to deceive authorities, or to escape capture, or to blow up), people are bound to be suspicious of burqa wearing women. Maybe those male terrorists, before they put on a burqa, should think about how their actions are going to affect their fellow Muslim sisters' lives who are innocent.

You can justify/rationalize the actions of Maulana or terrorists any way you want, but that is beside the point that I mentioned.

but i was under the impression that this maulana and his brother had said they would fight till death, and no serrender, i guess that was only for their followers not them self.

Comment:
@Amit,

You only know what you had seen on the TV regarding Maulana Abdul Aziz. I am not
sure if you know the inside story here. There is a lot of secret discussions
that were going on that led him to go out in Burqa. He was assured that if he
comes out he will not be held but ofcourse this is all part of the Bluff that
the Government plays with the people like him.
