That should have happened in 1947 in my opinion. India should have been for the people of Hindustan and those who are proud of their hindusthani/Indian heritage. The hindus who maybe pagans/idol worshippers or ‘infidels’ worshiping nature would have coexisted with those that decided to become muslims/chrsitians/jews.

pakistan’s formation was a result of the detachment of those muslims with the concepts of their indian heritage, religious tolerance and separation of religion from the state. Muslims will be accepted without question in india if they separate their loyalty to the state from their religious loyalty. That would need ‘lack of support to the Ummah’ in issues like foreign policy and others matters of the state. Accept what the state has to offer and practice your faith. We are still suffering from confusing politics/state policies with religion.

India will never be arabia or the gulf. They are islamic cultures at their core and arab/islamic culture are inseparable just like india and hindu culture/idol worshiping are inseparable. Accept the culture of the land instead trying to make it into something its not.

When you say the RSS is needed to counter the extrenal forces and to save the culture, pls. rry to find out then why RSS has never oppsed Brtishers as all other Hindus and Muslims. And what culture are they promoting when they spread lies and hatred against minorities and kill them cowardly.

You talk of danger of Islamisation, where are your thoughts based. Most Mulims dont even have the access to a square meal, clean water, electricity (read the Sachchar Committee report)and are the most poor community. Would they struggle for their food or something else? On the other hand RSS and Allies are fully organised.

Great posts by both of you. The beauty of Hinduism is there is room for such debate instead of saying some 1000 yr old book says this- so we must follow it. Even today the acharyas want to foster an environment that stimulates debates on these fundamental philosophical arguments between dvaitha and Advaitha. What RSS wants to accomplish is for hindus to take ownership of their religion/philosophy and preserve its value systems and keep up the process trying to answer those fundamental questions. In an ideal world an RSS wouldn’t have been needed. But its rise coincided a lot with the rise of muslim organizations like the Muslim league and the khilafa movement in the late 19th, early 20th century.

Also as Kaveri mentioned, finally the Hindus have realized that the previous 1000 years of not having a collective consciousness only resulted in repeated invasions of their once rich and proud vedic culture from the middle east and european cultures. The hindu mindset now is one of a cornered animal that has seen its native lands dwindling right before its eyes.

RSS wont be needed the moment christians stop proselytizing their faith and there is no danger of islamization of india. In spite of being the majority in India, the Hindus feel that they are under seige from a cultural stand point. They see Afghanistan fully islamized in the last millenium, pakistan and Bangladesh lost and kashmir being dominated by muslims. A lot of Hindus are afraid that their thousands of years of cutlure that survived the repeated invasions from muslim and greek lands will be lost if they dont act now. The great vedic traditions and the sharadha peet which is sacred for Hindus is now lost due to the islamization of Kashmir. I can only dream of the day that I can visit those places to see true examples of kashmir’s vedic heritage.

The only way to handle the aggression of the Abrahamic faiths is to fight it with equal aggression according to the RSS.

We need to be very careful in checking the veracity of such reports. Else, the Muslim name will get further spoiled. BTW, if it is true, it is not a case of fundamentsalism. It would border on insanity.
