You are right. The entire community should not be punished for the misdeeds of a few.

And now that a subsatntial number of Muslim leaders have come out against terrorism, the Hindus should acknowledge that and extend full support to them.

The Ummah has a lot to offer the nation. I am confident of that.

Asghar is a good author and enjoys a respectable place among moderate Muslim intellectuals in India. Having written some valuable books on Islam certainly gives weight to his article on Islam and Muslim situation in India.
The blasts and terror acts are the most disturbing incidents that the Muslims are happened to face nowadays. While some precious innocent lives are taken away in these brutal acts, the entire community is pushed more and more into corner and subjected to a sense of guilt and victimization. As rightly mentioned by Asghar, SIMI has never been accepted by mainstream and important Muslim organizations and has long been disowned by its mother organization, the Jamat-e-Islami. Then why to blame the community for misdeeds of such isolated and disowned elements if they are indeed found guilty of these dastardly violent crime?
Hang them if they are guilty but don’t victimise the entire community. Muslim organisations have been doing good job recently by organising conferences and seminars and issuing fatwas against terrorists, to the extent that they were considered more active than necessary by some fellow writers. But the problem is that this anti-terror stand and activities by Muslim leadership remain confined to Urdu press and are not conveyed to the nation through national media. This communication gape has to be filled up in order to fight the terrorists effectively on one hand and to bring the Muslim leadership to the mainstream on the other.

Islam is surely a religion of peace. That is the reason, why in the Holy Quran, God has stated that it was told to the Children of Israel, that if somebody killed one human being, it was like killing all of humanity.

The Holy Quran also exhorts Muslims, when confronted with the ignorant people of their time, to address them saying PEACE.

Examples can be quoted ad infinitum from the Holy Quran and the ahadith, which supports the fact that Islam is a peaceful religion.

However, if some extremist elements perpetrate acts of terror in the name of Islam, it is they who are to be blamed and not Islam.

IF this “stereotyping” of Muslims as anti social is occurring only in one society you can blame it as racism .. but have you ever thought about the universality of this phenomenon …?? it is happening every where … now start blaming the world .. can you ??

Its very important that muslims start introspection .. world is not against christians, hindus , Sikhs Jains Buddhist or bahais.. because they dont isolate themself from others in the name of “issues” .. in the name of some incident ..

Faith is secodnry ..
Huamnity is not for faith .. but faith is for humanity ..

So, are we interested in breaking the cycle of ‘bombardments’ or simply paint the community M anti-national? Choice is ours. We have all the ‘talent’ and ‘competence’ to do because we have scitifically educated people who did not go to any Madarsah but additionally hated it. Its double the requirement..
Come on, do we really want a ‘Ghaznavi’? By the current system, we more than qualify for the same. This time around blame the causes and not Islam. Should we used SIM of India’s expertise in bombing the prospective ‘Ghaznavi’ out?
