@Ghulam Mohiyuddin

You could give the same word to the practice of the gcc countries where the respect for other religion is next to nothing.

If you ask me personally due to communicaiton development world is a global village and every action in any part of the world has equal opposite reaction.

When it comes to protecting the religious turf, the majority communities in both Malaysia and India tend to be overbearing and insensitive. Churches have been burned both in Malaysia and India. Malaysians forbid Christian use of the word "Allah". Several Indian states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have passed anti-conversion laws of doubtful constitutionality that irk the evangelists, while facilitating "re-conversion" into Hinduism.

I have no use for either the Muslim fundamentalists in Malaysia or Hindu fundamentalists in India. If you do not want your folks to go astray, do it through reforms in your own religions and better propagation of your tenets so that people have less reason to convert, rather than through passing laws or using the courts.

One could not agree more with the author, however his contention that word Allah was in use before the 'advent' of Islam in Arabia is not true. Dear reader, Islam is there from day one, but the latest version could only be told having been there in Arabia. In fact, all the religions which we see now, were Islam but due to 'human convenience' they have been compromised. No one should be surprised when the modern day Muslims, the follower of the latest version are at times felt to be rigid to the extent of being called obscurantists.
